Abstract
The open-access journal PLoS Computational Biology has established a dedicated manuscript track - Topic Pages - for scholarly manuscripts destined for reuse on the English Wikipedia

A number of scholarly journals have been partnering with Wikimedia projects, while others are considering to do so (cf. coverage in The Signpost and This Month in GLAM), and support is available for other journals wishing to optimize their workflows in terms of compatibility with reuse of their materials on Wikimedia projects.

In light of these activities and given that outreach to scholarly communities has been scaled up over recent years, it seems worthwhile to reconsider the proposal for a peer-reviewed journal to be set up by Wikimedia specifically to facilitate expert contributions.

What can scholarly journals bring to Wikimedia projects or the Wikimedia community? What can the latter offer to the scholarly community? Which of these interactions would benefit from a wiki-based journal? Would it be preferable, from Wikimedia perspectives, to run such a journal as a Wikimedia project or at a third party or otherwise? How would editorial decisions be taken? How do similar initiatives like Scholarpedia or the Criteria for the journal of the future fit into the picture? Would the journal be monolingual? Under what license would it operate? How would its content - text, images, multimedia, data, metadata, code and semantic annotations - be integrated with other Wikimedia projects and activities? How would it integrate with open-access and open-science materials from other sources? What is the potential of the journal to serve as an Open Educational Resource?

The panel will discuss these issues from the perspectives of existing collaborations with scholarly partners. It shall build on a similar panel proposed to the Wikipedia Academy 2012, which takes place in Berlin two weeks before Wikimania.
