How can the intersection of emerging telecommunications technology (mobile and fixed broadband) and participatory consumer action create increased internet access for all? Find out what leading figures in industry, policy, and non-profit sectors predict for the future. Since 70% of the world’s population is not online, delivering internet access it the biggest policy, economic, and social issue of our time. Universal access is the first step to a more informed, engaged, and open world. From sharing internet access to community and municipal broadband networks to mobile broadband, a combination of technology, collaborative consumption, and civic organization is the backdrop for Web 3.0: universal access. This panel will address the wiki-model of information management and sharing as applied to the actual process of getting online, from crowdsourcing infrastructure to enhancing digital literacy.
